About

Camp History

The Albert Sidney Johnston Camp #983 was chartered March 12, 1996 under the command of Robert L. Holloway. The sixteen (16) original camp members along with Holloway were; Frank Andrews, Paul Clemens, Bedford Dennis, Raymond Florence, Michael Gardner, William Goolsby, Danny Hastings, Richard Huddleston, Gary Johnson, Edward Maddox, Cecil Pegues, Bill Rosenburg, Roy Slonaker, Jerry Spann, and Willard Woodruff.

Publication for the Camp’s official newsletter, “The Picketline”, began June 24, 1996. The Camp has been very active in the community in the past by sponsoring annual events such as a cancer run and participating in confederate gravesite marking and flagging for recognition of our confederate veterans.

We are an award-winning camp in 2024 with designations as a Four Star Camp, Superior Camp, and a 100% Retention Camp.
